Children should not take more than 600 milligrams of this medication per day. Do not share this medication with another person, even if they have the same symptoms you have. If you take this medication long-term, your blood, kidney and liver function may need to be tested. Visit your doctor regularly. If you are taking this medication to treat an infection, continue to take it until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Declomycin is usually given for up to 2 days after lab tests show that the infection has cleared. Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection.
