Prologue: The beginning of a Legend
Legends have roots; and all such roots have a beginning. Snowstorm's legend started twenty years ago, a common occurrence in a ordinary Singaporean family,catalogo scarpe prada, on the lone child's fifth birthday.
It is the usual practice for parents to sign their children up for activities such as ballet classes and sports; Gwendolyn and Marcus Fong, however, prided themselves on being progressive and modern parents - they gave their daughter a choice. She was no less affected by the violence and activity any child her age was exposed to by the television. They could have tried to dissuade her by telling her that karate was hard work and required persistence as well as physical punishment. But they did not. And that was the choice that birthed the legend of Snowstorm in the underground.
Author's Note: Yeah, strange prologue, I know. I'm toying with the idea that the martial arts world(or Jiang Hu) as mentioned so often in Chinese stories has gone underground, and is in close contact with the triads, gangs, the criminal underworld and the fact that a police officer with contacts in the Jiang Hu would have an easier time of it. Not to say that all in the Jiang Hu is bad - anyone familiar with the wuxia novels written by Louis Chia (his penname is Jin Yong) would know about the 'good sects' and 'bad sects'. It would still be the same in the present underground Jiang Hu - drug rings and the like are the doing of the 'bad' sects, while the police officer's contacts come mainly from the 'good' sects and small neutral people.
