Default Windows 7 Activation Windows Vista or Windows Serv

Ok, so I just expend a couple of whistful hours trying to work out the way to modify the "All Users" profile on the Windows Server 2008 product. I needed to add a plan to run at login (e.g. in the Start off Menu|Plans|Startup directory) for all consumers that login, but stuff are now a bit totally different with Vista and Windows Server 2008.
I've discovered quite a number of people asking comparable questions via the internet but nobody appears to possess presented an answer that works so I assumed I'd publish my findings.
Firstly, for all those who have not hit this earlier than, the "C:Documents and Settings" directory the place consumer profiles are stored in Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 systems has changed to "C:Users" in Vista and Windows Server 2008. (I on a regular basis encounter XP users who have upgraded to Vista getting baffled by this an individual)
So now in Vista and Windows Server 2008 the "All Users" directory during the C:Users directory is mostly a hidden directory and that means you will have to "Show hidden files and folders" in Windows Explorer by going Resources|Folder Possible choices|Watch to exhibit it.
After you've visability on the C:UsersAll Users directory you will definitely observe that its only a shortcut then in the event you try and access it you'll get an "Access Denied" dialog box. Real Handy.
Looking at the properties of the "All Users" directory shows that it points for the C:ProgramData directory (this is usually a new system directory that did not exist in older versions e.g. XP etc). The C:ProgramData directory is also a concealed directory but if you ever have already done "Show hidden files & folders" as above then you can see it.
The C:ProgramData directory has a sub-directory called "Start Menu" but you will get Entry Denied on this 1 too.
This is now obtaining a bit long so lets go straight to the answer ... the Startup directory I needed is now at "C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsStartup"
So essentially,Windows 7 Pro, under Vista and Windows Server 2008 the "All Users" profile is now manifested as the C:ProgramData directory and there are shortcuts from the C:UsersAll End users directory on the new location for compatibility reasons but in most cases you'll get an Accessibility Denied dialog box when you attempt to access the shortcuts but you might find most of what you are looking for under C:ProgramDataMicrosoft. You can also accessibility this via C:UsersAll UsersMicrosoft
