EMMA WILLIS may already have a reputation for providing London's best dressed men with shirts and ties befitting true, British taste,
abercrombie and fitch,
birkenstocks - 1963, but her womenswear is growing stronger on the fashion radar all the time. Now the first wardrobe choice for the Countess of Wes######, who has worked with Willis on outfits for all her forthcoming high profile appearances including the Easter Service, the Queen's 80th birthday at the end of April and the Canadian tour,

in this season, too). With all the womenswear and menswear made in England and all the ties made in London, Willis' standards are as high today as they were when she began making bespoke shirts for men in 1987. "It's unusual for a brand these days to manufacture in this country which is a great shame as shirt making is one of our great skills," she says. Don't expect to see her on the catwalk schedule in the coming seasons, however. "I did try to do biannual collections for both men and womenswear but I found I was spreading myself too thin," says the mother-of-three, who runs her business from her Gloucestershire home and spends two days a week with her customers in the shop. "If I was concentrating on buying all the silks,
onitsuka tiger shoes, lace, taffetas and velvets for women, there wasn't time to find all the best men's fabrics, too." So,

They don't want to be too typical but they want to be taken seriously." Emma Willis, 66 Jermyn Street, London, SW1Y 6NY. For more information visit www.emmawillis.com. (March 13 2006, AM)
