Default Bringing Home Your New Puppy - What to Expect and

Chewing - Understand that puppies LOVE to chew! They'll chew your shoes, your furniture, your children's toys, etc., just to name a few. This doesn't mean you should let your puppy run riot over your house, he will just need some training.
c. Brushing - Your puppy will love this and it's something very easy your child can learn to do. This should be done every day. It will keep your puppy clean not to mention remove excess hair that they will shed. Your puppy will LOVE the attention.
These are some of the many unnecessary questions/comments that come out of the mouths of even extremely experienced actors before they begin their auditions.I have sat in on countless professional casting sessions to read and/or operate the camera. I am constantly amazed at what actors say and do seconds before they begin to perform. I am equally amazed at the advice that actors give each other when it seems they have no experience on which to base their opinions other than perhaps something an acting teacher told them who was just trying to sound like he knew what he was talking about.Based on my experiences, I feel it my duty to dispel certain myths and point out some of the best ways that an actor can improve their chances of booking a job when they get that magical call to audition.
1. Show up! I'm serious...show up at your audition...preferably on time.Last week I sat in on a session where a full 15% of the actors did not even show up for their time slots. Not only that, they didn't call or have their agents call to offer a reason or apology. This is simply unacceptable and rude behavior. If you do a no-show for a good reason, then at least call or have your agent call.If you don't have a good reason, then show up or quit acting. You're just making a fool of yourself, claiming to want to act, but not having the self-dignity or respect of all the parties involved in casting to do the work and prioritize your auditions. You are not going to last, so either change your work habits or switch professions. There are too many hungry actors who could have filled your spot to leave it unfilled.
b. Bathing - Your children will have fun doing this. They just need to make sure the water is at room temperature and not to get the pet shampoo in your puppy's eyes or ears.
d. Walking - This should be done twice a day, morning and evening. This not only gives your puppy exercise but it also gives your children a chance to get out of the house and get some exercise themselves. We live in a world of games and computers and our children just don't get enough exercise. Walking their dog is a good routine to get into.
Just remember that dogs take a lot of time and patience, so expect your life to slow down a bit. You will soon realize how much joy they can bring to not only your children's lives but yours as well. It can be a way for your family to reconnect. There's just something about that feeling you get from your dog that gives you unconditional love.
Invest in a Dog Crate - Puppies need their own little "Den". A crate is a great place for your puppy to go for security and will not mind staying in it when you are not watching him. You can also put your puppy in this crate at night so you don't have to worry whether or not he's wandering off going potty on your carpet.
Use a Baby Gate - You can use a baby gate during the day to confine your puppy to a place like your kitchen since that is usually where you have linoleum or tile floors that are easy to clean when your puppy has an accident.
a. Feeding - A dog will eat itself to oblivion if you let it so have your children put your puppy on a schedule and feed them at the same time daily. This also helps to regulate your puppy's bowels.
Housebreaking - This will definitely take some time. You can't expect a puppy to be fully trained until they are several months old and some even take up to a year old. A young pup just can't control himself if he has to wait to go outside. This is no different than training your child, you have to have patience.
e. Potty Accidents - They will also need to pick up after your puppy has a potty accident. (this applies to children that are old enough to do so ...not toddlers) This will teach your children that you have to take the "not so fun" stuff along with the enjoyable times they have with their new puppy.
Give Your Children "Puppy" Chores
Please don't ever expect your young child to train the puppy. It is just too hard for them since they are young themselves. But there are things that you can teach your children so that they feel they have some input in training your puppy.
