Bold, bright and wild prints may be some of the top trends for this year’s
prom dresses, but for Khadijah Montague, it was all about the sparkle.
“I wanted something long with a little bit of pouf,” said Montague, 17-year-old student at Winslow Township High School.
Montague, searching for a dress for her junior prom, tried on a long, champagne-colored ball gown, with a black tulle overlay and gold accents.
“This prom season we have seen seniors going for a more dramatic

Long dresses with bold colors such as, magenta, turquoise and lime green have been big sellers

“The mermaid style, which has a drop waist and form fit through the thighs, with a dramatic flow at the bottom has been a big hit,” said Amariles. “No matter what color or print though, the pouf of tulle has been what everyone is looking for.”
Marion Williams, owner of The Bridal Manor in Washington Township, said she has also seen a lot of
ball gowns being sold.
“The trend from the red carpet in Hollywood with the look of the one shoulder has been a hit this year as well,” said Williams.
The dresses aren’t the only part of prom, though. You still have to get your shoes and accessories.
Surprisingly, those accessories don’t include necklaces.

These trends may be hot this year, but last year, teens wouldn’t have thought twice about wearing this year’s style of dresses.
“People get a hold of the style and after you wear it. It gets boring

“I really want to stand out at my prom, be original,” said Montague. “I don’t want to walk in and look like everyone else.”Topics related articles:
