Some of the IT things you’ll need to do your job will be provided by or through departments reporting to University Information Technologies. Other areas of your job will be unique to your department, and may be up to your discretion.
New IT Professional Checklist Checklist for new staff members setting up their IT providers. Building access The UCard gives access to most buildings on campus. (Administrators determine individual access rights utilizing the UCard.) Eventually all access will involve use from the UCard,Office 2010 Professional Key, including medical facilities and Research Park. Cell phone University employees are eligible for special discounts on cellular telephone providers. If your job requires a cell phone, your department administrator will work with you to provide you with a cell phone allowance. Computer (Operating Systems, applications) - Every department has a Computer Administrator (or administrators) that maintain desktop computers, printers & servers. This is an area where departments are independent in deciding upon operating systems, platforms, brands, programs, etc. ID (uNID) & password Your uNID is your campus IT identity. It not only allows you to access your CIS records, but many other IT resources on campus. SecureIT website The U’s site for Details Security policies, best practices, alerts, and end user instructions. Please become familiar with it and make sure your department members follow the computer safety guidelines shown on this site. Telephone Your department uses either a Centrex or Sprint-Coral phone system. Your administrator will tell you what your phone number is. Training The University offers some IT training through several campus departments,Office 2010 Home And Business Key, and other outside companies are listed. UCard Employees can obtain their UCard after attending Employee Orientation. They are issued a voucher that is taken to either UCard office to have their card made. The numbers on the front of your card serve to identify you in University records.




Advanced UIT Solutions IT Managers Forum The IT Managers Forum consists of members of the campus IT management neighborhood. They meet monthly to discuss IT issues and solutions for U colleges and departments. Network Outage/Maintenance Info Brief descriptions of recent unplanned outages plus a list of scheduled network maintenance; subscribe to the email list to be notified by email and to post your own outage/maintenance reports. It is an online system that houses your employee details, including your home address, your email address for official University communication, your emergency contact details, and your time & payroll info. You access the CIS with your University Network ID (uNID) and password. Committees and Groups Several independent committees exist to provide checks and balances,Windows 7 Ultimate Key, sound thinking and oversight to enterprise IT projects. Assist offered by UIT. E-commerce programs required if your department has any e-commerce implementation. Electronic Library assets Access to indexes,Office Professional Plus 2007 Key, databases, and course reserves Instructional Media Services (IMS) gives assist and assistance in the use of Instructional Technological innovation to the faculty, students and staff from the University of Utah. Software The Office of Software Licensing offers discounted software for work and home computers, including low cost anti-virus software. Media Solutions creates websites, videos, databases, training modules, and presentations on contract for organizations on campus. UOnline Online courses offered at the U. Website Registration register your institutional websites with the U Webmasters Office. Web accounts disk space for storage and personal web pages
