A few years ago I was having dinner in Washington with 1 of the more recognizable names in Democratic politics. A gregarious African-American male stopped by the table to pay his respects to my dinner partner. As his visitor waded away, the Democrat rotated to me and declared: “Future Speaker of the House.”
“Who is that?” I queried.
“Artur Davis,Buy ghds, Congressman from Alabama. Wicked beautiful. Watch him.”
Now via Ben Smith I discern the bold newspaper that, after his harsh defeat in Alabama’s Democratic gubernatorial basic ashore Tuesday,Beats by dre earphones, a dejected Davis has announced that he’s done with politics and will “find something else productive to do with [my] life.”
Davis’s stunning defeat–he blew a 30-point lead and lost along 24 points–is a complicated thing. He was no felled by  white bias (though he did lose the pearly ballot) merely prefer was trampled by his pearly antagonist,  state Agriculture and Industries Commissioner Ron Sparks, even in several overwhelmingly black areas. That was one visible rejection of his post-racial strategy–presumably geared towards the general election–of refusing to kowtow for the endorsements of the state’s important African-American groups (all of which sided with Sparks). Not that race was the merely factor. Davis also suffered from his referendum opposition Obama’s health attention blueprint (not a nice access to win over Democrats,cheap ghds, even in Alabama) and his against to a Sparks-backed state lottery to fund pedagogy programs.
Davis’s flameout perhaps suggests namely he isn’t as brilliant as my banquet associate thought, by fewest while it comes apt electoral politics. Maybe he discovered–rather favor Hillary Clinton in 2008–that studiously positioning yourself because a common referendum can unexpectedly spend you a primary. Or possibly he was fair the latest occurrence of anti-Washington pique burning via USA.
Whatever the circumstance, it looks like the premier black Speaker of the House will be something additional than Artur Davis.
