Default Yigal Sticks To What He Does Best Leather and Kni

It was casual luxury which is what Yigal does best. His versatility is impressive—so few can make casual clothes so elegant.
There was a beautiful embroidered top, cozy Shepherd’s Patchwork knits and amazing leather and knit combination jackets. And of course there were dresses thrown in (after all, the man is known for his drapey dresses.) But these dresses weren’t draped; Instead they were much more architectural and boxy.
But it was the chunky knits and leather jackets that caught my eye.
Yigal Azrouel presented a well-tailored collection from the start—Jacquelyn Jablonski opened the show in a suit. The designer gave us new silhouettes for fall; Overall things were a bit more streamlined.

Fall 2010 New York, Fashion Shows, Fashion Week Yigal Sticks To What He Does Best: Leather and Knits By Kate Kaunitz Saturday, Feb 13,Red Bull Hats, 2010 / 2:31 PM GMT -5
While the women’s collection was good, the men’s was great. The designer sent Taras down the runway in the most incredible wool wrap coat with leather sleeves, which I’m hoping they will manufacture in an xtra-small so that I can make it mine. There was a gorgeous high-collared caramel colored bomber jacket and cool zipdown sweater tops. The men had added layers with oversized shearling snap collars—kind of like a snood with snaps—and hooded scarves. The designer’s segue into menswear in 2007 was one of the best decisions he has ever made.
