AFRICA STYLE DAILY » They Wear African: Candice Boucher, Oroma ...
In Diaspora. This summer, it seems that Africa is definitely in with quite a number of celebs stepping out in African designer brands.Check out who wore what in our latest installment of the series. South African model Candice Boucher attended the Cannes Film Festival in France rocking a very risque sheer black dress from fellow South African Gavin Rajah’s couture collection. We love kobe v Candice for her bold choice and having her model body definitely helps! The designer had a sample sale in South Africa a few days ago so we hope some of our readers managed to scoop up some pieces. Founder and Director of Pop Africana magazine, Oroma Elewa was seen rocking a perfect-for-summer semi sheer collared shirt from the A/W 2011 collection by Nigerian label Maki kobe shoes Oh. It was showcased on the Arise Magazine Fashion Week runways. As the official muse for the brand, she has rocked Maki Oh several times and has been featured as a “Closet Crush ” on Coco & Creme. Fashionjunkii blogger and stylist Rosemary Kokuhilwa recently wore her fellow Tanzanian’s label Chichia London while out and about in New York City. She paired the Khanga tunic with Michael Kors sweatpants, feathered earrings and a trendy turban. It seems a lot of our “they wear African” spottings include Chichia London. We definitely need to get our hands on a few pieces. A few days later, she was spotted in an Aya Morrison clutch which she paired with matching shoes and a Moschino dress. She purchased the bag at the Aya Morrison soiree we blogged about here . Whose outfit did you like best? Cameroonian actress Sophy Aiida (her latest Nollywood movie ‘The Guest’ premiers cheap basketball shoes in June), host and co-founder of the Nakande Project, looked afro-chic in her traditional cloth from the Western part of Cameroon which she purchased at a local market while on vacation there. She rocked the outfit at the Applause Africa latest Magazine launch. She paired it with red pumps for a pop of color. High School Musical alum Ashley Tisdale rocked this red dresses from Ghanaian designer Christiane King which is one of two dresses she is shown wearing in her new movie. With lots of looks to choose from, who do you think wore it best?
