Thumbs up UGG Australia Bringing in more than 700 Million |

They’re warm, fuzzy, and both*common folk*an celebrities alike own them. Poodles, you say? Nope, UGG Australia*boots. In 1978, young Australian surfer Brian Smith journeyed up to the United States with a bag full of the popular “down-under” sheepskin boots. Before he could even settle in to his Californian hometown, all of the surfers wanted a pair of these peculiar sheepskin boots to put on right as they got out of the chilly water.*Let’s face it: UGGs are not the most aesthetic pair of boots out there. The name is actually derived from “ugly;” the term goes back as far as World War I when Australian pilots kept their legs from freezing in unpressurized cockpits 靴レッドウィング with "flying uggs"("fugs"), which were sheepskin boots that reached above their knees. Deckers Outdoor Corporation acquired UGG Australia in 1995 by 1998, the product line had grown to include two boots, four slippers, and a few casual shoes.*UGG boots really took off, though, in 2000 when Oprah Winfrey showcased a pair on her annual "Favorite ブーツレッドウィング Things" show. The instantaneous impact was evident from the fact that the company jumped from 12 million to 15 million in revenue that year. More and more celebrities started wearing them and the popularity permeated throughout the world. Although UGG’s success seemed to have happened overnight, executives at UGG worked hard to make this dream a reality. They had a very clear vision for this company: "the affluent alpha consumer," who was explained as a woman “in a Range Rover driving her kids to private school with her UGG boots on." The company took huge risks to make this vision into a reality; instead of trying to advertise through several outlets, they bought one or two advertisement in Vogue in hopes of catching high-end customers’ attention. Soon enough, UGG boots became status symbols and comfort-seeking consumers all over the world wanted to own a pair of these much-coveted boots. These marketing risks clearly paid off. Last year, UGG Australia sold nearly 712 million of footwear. The company seems to expand despite tough economic conditions; revenue at the self-described "world's largest purveyor of Grade-A sheepskin" increased 22% around the time of the recession. Last spring’s revenues exceeded 100 million for the first time. UGG has expanded a great deal from its single pair of boots. UGG fans can now buy UGG sneakers, shearling and leather coats, handbags, rugs and pillows online or at one of 19 company-owned stores around the world. The company has even teamed up with Jimmy Choo, one of the highest-end shoe companies, to create a limited edition shoe collection. Day2Night Convertible Heels also hopes to team up with a well-known shoe brand to bring Day2Night Technology to other Air Jordan 1 « Nike Air Max,Nike Air Max 90,Womens Nike Air Max companies. UGG Australia all started in a beach in Australia and has now flourished to one of the most well-known shoe brands in the world. XOXO Day2Night Team blogged by Danielle Letayf
