Back in August I went into detail about the Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards and highlighted some key moments since the prestigious award’s existence (read post). The 2nd Annual Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards were just as exciting especially when Chilean entrepreneur Laura Chicurel,
Vincent Sneaker Stone, founder of Chicurela Ltd,
Ash Intense Dress Boot Suede, was chosen as the European winner.
I’m thrilled to be among the winners of the Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards. Climate change is one of the most critical global challenges of our time and responsible companies need to prioritize the environment in their strategy and day-to-day activities. Through Chicurela,
Ash Ginger Sneaker, I want to demonstrate that it’s possible to be economically successful while also being environmentally friendly.
Laura Chicurel recently commented about the win saying:
Laura Chicurel, the founder and owner of Chicurela,
Ash Hot Strappy Sandal Leather, owns a start up that specializing in the commercialization of eco-friendly salmon skin leather. That’s right,
Ray Combat Boot, salmon skin leather. Chicurela mission is to “create high-end small leather goods which combine unique materials and design for today’s professional women”. After diving deeper into the company I found that innovation and ingenuity bought about the genius idea of using salmon skin to create luxury goods. Salmon skin actually used to be waste material from the salmon farming industry used to make oil and other materials. Chicurela took a wasteful process and turned it into eco friendly quality leather goods.
