IT professionals connect on capabilities upgrade
Information Technologies experts, educators and business
stakeholders will be convening at Manukau Institute of
Technology (MIT) on March 19, to address abilities demands in
Auckland’s fastest growing region, Counties Manukau.
As New Zealand industries evolve, employers are looking
for IT professionals with new and varied skills sets. This
conference is significant as it will encourage further
collaboration between the tertiary schooling and commercial
sectors to ensure the capabilities shortage gap is addressed.
“The conference is aiming to ensure that future
programmes and courses at MIT match industries need for
multi-skilled employees both within NZ and
internationally,” says Brett O’Reily, CEO for NZCIT.
“Engagement such as this between educators and
stakeholders is critical to the development of NZ as a world
leading digital economy.”
Participants will
include representation from; Manukau Institute of
Technology, New Zealand Information and Communication
Technologies Group Inc (NZICT),
Office Professional Plus Key, New Zealand Computer Society
Inc. (NZCS),
Buy Windows 7 Starter, CISCO Systems Inc, Microsoft and Certification
private training establishments (PTE’s).
“The
ICT environment is competitive and fast evolving; developing
confident, adaptive, employable professionals is paramount
for both MIT and New Zealand business at large,” says Mark
McNeill, Head of School, Computing and IT (SoCIT) at MIT.
The conference will take place at the Faculty of
Business at MIT, Gate 12, Otara Rd,
