Neftali Feliz needs only to get through one inning without complications for Double A Frisco on Wednesday before the Texas Rangers reinstate their All-Star closer from the 15-day disabled list.(Mlb Jerseys ) Feliz, out with right shoulder inflammation, gave a thumbs-up after throwing 46 pitches during a bullpen session Monday at Overstock.com Stadium. After a brief discussion with manager Ron Washington and pitching coach Mike Maddux, Feliz was told of his Frisco assignment. He can be activated from the DL on Friday.
“He said he felt good, so he’s ready to get out of here,”(wealthmass) Washington said. “Hopefully, that goes well and we can activate him Friday when he’s ready to come off.” Tommy Hunter will start the game Wednesday for the RoughRiders. He threw a bullpen session Monday at extended spring training in Arizona and was cleared for a rehab assignment. The right-hander will pitch three to four innings in the first of at least three rehab starts. The Rangers haven’t determined if Hunter will start or relieve when he returns, but they want him stretched out in case he’s needed in the rotation. Maddux said that the main concern with Hunter is making sure he can field his position. There is lot of pitcher’s fielding practice ahead for Hunter. “PFPs are going well. That’s the big thing,” Maddux said. “We’ve got to get in baseball shape doing baseball things.”
