I love this kind of interactions within athletes. I definatly feel it helps with the emotion aspect of being a professional athlete, and I enjoy seeing these types of interactions. There is nothing like having someone to look up to or to answer questions like an older brother on a team.

Would it be too much to ask Mariano to try some of that on A-Rod? Seriously.

Mariano Rivera is a mentor to several of the young, Latino players in the Yankees’ organization. He takes them to dinner, he counsels them and he treats them like his little brothers. Sometimes, Rivera, the older brother, gets to be a playful bully,
Chicago White Sox Hats, too.
As Rivera interacted with his fellow reliever Edwar Ramirez in the clubhouse on Saturday, their behavior fit the mold of the older brother dominating the little brother because he can.
After Rivera had an analgesic heating lotion applied to his right shoulder,
cheap Texas Rangers Hats, he removed his shirt, rubbed it against the product and then pressed it against Ramirez’s ear. Ramirez swiped in the air as if a dozen bees had floated into his ear.
Ramirez complained, but it did not stop Rivera. In fact,
wholesale Winter caps, Rivera was not finished with teasing his little buddy. Rivera took his uniform belt, unfurled it and whacked Ramirez in the back. Ramirez was jolted. While Ramirez grabbed a hanger and acted as if he might retaliate,
Wholesale Philadelphia Phillies Hats, he did not. After all,
Minnesota Twins Hats, this was the mighty and valuable Mariano Rivera. Ramirez was just the little brother.
While he’s mentoring the others, Rivera should take a few minutes off to knock some sense into Cano’s bean.
Actually that line is from Mariano Duncan.

Who would have guessed that Mariano was a sadist at heart? I guess he’s not satisfied just to have those cut fastballs buzz by batters’ ears. He also likes to torment his “little brothers.” Having such privileges are the real reason why most of us are disappointed that we did not become professional ballplayers. Who wouldn’t like to still be able to snap one’s towel (or better yet a belt,
New Era Hats!) at one’s underlings?
