Most regard Sino-Japanese relations important
Chinanews, Beijing, Aug 20 – Last Friday, Peking University and NPO organization jointly released the result of an opinion poll carried out among both the Chinese and Japanese public. The opinion poll shows that more than 60% of the Chinese and Japanese public regard Sino-Japanese relations as very important. Over 50% of the public of the two countries think China and Japan can carry out some cooperative projects in the fields of energy and economy.
The survey was launched in China and Japan in May this year. About 2,000 Chinese public from Beijing, Shanghai,

For Japanese people, the proportion of Japanese public whose impression about China has improved “greatly” or “a little bit” over the past one year has increased by 10.2 percentage points and that proportion of Japanese intellectuals by 18.2 percentage points.
More than 60% of Chinese students and 70% of Chinese public hold an “optimistic” or “fairly optimistic” view about the prospect of Sino-Japanese relationship. Over 40% of Japanese public think such relationship will change for the better in future.
In addition, information shows that both the Chinese and Japanese public do not have much chance to conduct direct exchanges to know each other deeper. In light of this, finding more ways to promote exchanges between both peoples might be an important way for the two countries to improve their relations.
