Gamethread: New York Jets @ New York Giants 08.29.11 ...
Who: New York JetsÂ*@ New York Giants When:Â*2:00 p.m. ET Where:Â*MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ Media: TV – WNBC and NFL Network, Radio –Â*1050 AM ESPN Radio, Sirius – 92, Sirius XM – XM 227,Â*Internet Audio –Â*NFL Fieldpass. TheirÂ*Previous Meeting: The last time these two rivals met on the field was last August when Calvin Pace memorably bloodied the face of Eli Manning, ending Eli’s night early. And lest we forget that five new Jets made their debut against the Jints including LaDainian Tomlinson, Santonio Holmes, Antonio Cromartie, Brodney Pool and Jason Taylor while Darrelle Revis was still out due to a wallet impediment. The starting unit was sharp in itsÂ*first half appearance despite aÂ*interception by Sanchez who led the Jets to three scoring drives to see the Jets ahead 13-10 at halftime. Enter the backups and one name I’m sure we are all familiar with and will be looking for this afternoon, Victor Cruz. According to Bart Scott, Cruz looked like Randy Moss after torching the Jets’ defense for three consecutive touchdowns while the Kellen Clemens-led offense stumbled and bumbledÂ*the rest of the gameÂ*sans Sanchez. The Jints claimed the first victory in the newly opened stadium, 31-16. Injury Report:Â*Mark Brunell (CalfÂ*– Out), Plaxico Burress (Lower backÂ*– Probable), Trevor Canfield (KneeÂ*– Out), Jeff Cumberland (Hamstring – Out),Â*Marcus ghd straighteners cheapest Dixon (KneeÂ*– Probable), Derrick Mason (KneeÂ*– Probable), BrandonÂ*MooreÂ*(HipÂ*– Probable), Calvin Pace (GroinÂ*– Probable), Sione Pouha (KneeÂ*– Probable),Â*Bart Scott (LegÂ*– Probable), Courtney Smith (Ankle – Probable),Â*Rob Turner (Broken legÂ*– Out). Inactives Giants:Â*T.B.A. Jets: T.B.A. Jets Captains: T.B.A. Links: TJB Chat || Preview ||Â*Intel Report || NFLÂ*Game Center ||Â*JetsÂ*@Â*GiantsÂ*Game ReleaseÂ*||Â*TJB on Twitter Post Scriptum: The passwordÂ*toÂ*the chatroom is case-sensitive andÂ*must be entered as shown: shakeweights Although it is the preseason and the Jets will have the chance ghd straighteners cheap to play the Jints once more during the regular season, with possible playoff implications on the line,Â*this contestÂ*still feels like a regular season matchup. Of course, it really isn’t all that surprising considering the verbal jousting that has increased since Rex Ryan has suddenly cast a large shadowÂ*(no pun intended) over the Giants’ parade. And don’t even get started on MetsLife Stadium and whom it truly belongs to. In short, weather permitting, it promises to be an excellent matchup for both teams and a test for the Jets’ starters who are expected to play the first half and possibly a bit moreÂ*into the third quarter. Granted, it was the Bengals however, the offense, specifically, the offensive line looked much more solid than when we saw them play inÂ*the opener against Houston although how some of those guys are still on the team is a mystery.Â*The addition of Plaxico Burress promises to help the Jets quite a bit provided he can remain healthy this season as the “old man” showed us he wasn’t ready to call it quits just yet. Perhaps we’ll receive an encore performance after all, the Giants were his home for three years. That in mind, the Jets’ redzone woes still continue as the Jets struggled to punch it into the end zone against Cincy and more often than not had to settle for Folk/Novak field goals. Additionally, the running game needs to be reestablished after it looked, well, sicklyÂ*against the Bengals. The loss of GreeneÂ*certainly did not helpÂ*while Tomlinson struggled all nightÂ*to make any big gainsÂ*and the McKnight/Powell combination was underwhelming save for McKnight’s pass catching abilitiesÂ*whichÂ*were highlighted as he caught hisÂ*firstÂ*professional touchdown. The receiver spotÂ*will certainly be on highlight. Although JeremyÂ*Kerley’s spot is secure, there are some balls he needs to learn to hang on to. Beyond Kerley, it’s anyone’s guess as to who makes the cut. Patrick Turner and Logan Payne seem like the likely candidates butÂ*we cannot forgetÂ*Michael Campbell, Courtney Smith, Dan DePalma and Scotty McKnight, who has been invisible these pastÂ*two weeks. Â*Â* Although the pass rushing isn’t where we would like it to be, the Jets defense has been rather stout this preseason and the additions of Kenrick Ellis, Wilkerson and MTVÂ*have certainly helped. And, the addition of ghd cheap Aaron Maybin could possibly payoff with hard work and determination–he’s quick and his first sack, a strip-sack, certainly caught everyone’s attention, how’s that for an opportunity Vernon? 355 Responses to Gamethread: New York Jets @ New York Giants 08.29.11
