Does your web copy have what it takes to make a FANTASTIC first impression? Good first impressions are vital in life. That’s TWICE as true for any virtual business! Make no mistake—your marketing and sales efforts are the first impression your business makes on your potential customers. Whenever you’re creating web copy, your passion for your business (or lack of it) has a lasting impact on your audience. If you’re not giving your prospective customers web copy that they need or want, then you’re losing sales big time! So if you’re still wondering how to get people hooked on your web copy, then get back to the basics! Here are six tips for fast web copy success that no website can do without. Tip #1: Know your audience. Who’s reading your web copy? What do people want to know about you? What do they need to know about your business? If you don’t know the answers to these questions or if you can’t identify more questions like these for your business, find or hire someone who can—fast! Tip #2: Design your marketing tool. Once you really get to know your audience, you’ll have a better idea of how to use web copy to make sales. Use what you know about your audience to gain AND HOLD their attention. Learning about your audience and then writing web copy that targets their needs and interests will always be your best marketing tool. Tip #3: Identify a need. Find out what your customers’ needs are. Do they need a product you can give them, a service you can provide, or both? Considering questions like this shows that you care about your customers. In other words,

Believe it or not, this is one of the biggest problem areas I deal with in my clients’ business copy. Once you find out what your customers’ needs are, tell them how and why you can give them what they need. LEAVE NO ROOM FOR DOUBT! Use web copy to describe how customers will feel when using your product or service. Tip #5: Grab your readers’ attention with a special offer. Nothing beats a good deal. Make sure your customers know that, too! Be unmistakably clear about why a special offer is so special. Readers should get the point immediately. The phrase, “But wait—there’s more!” may be today’s clich? but the idea behind it will never go out of style! Tip #6: Create a sense of urgency for your customers to respond to. Don’t give customers too much time to make a decision. Once made, special offers should be “GONE FOREVER.” Use web copy to anticipate and get rid of any possible objections. If this doesn’t seem to work, go back to Tips 1-3 and figure out where things went wrong—but keep at it! Remember: ALL web copy is an opportunity to make a sale! You never know when your web copy will make an unexpected sale or get you that stellar referral you’re looking for. Use these tips to skyrocket your business to the next level!
