It is very easy to forget things, especially when you are a real estate agent. You have contractors, viewings, open houses, and many phone calls and emails that demand your attention. You can easily forget that you need to call someone back or answer an email that has been in your inbox for a week. Sometimes when you remember - or are forced to remember - that you completely forgot something like this, the potential buyer will get rather belligerent. They will become short with you, and may voice some rather harsh opinions. Instead of starting a battle, even as tempting as it may be, you should simply reiterate your apology. Kill them with kindness and they will forget that they were annoyed with your scatterbrain.
Things are hard for everyone these days. There are so many people that are walking in that fine line between complete failure and immeasurable success. This is what we see quite frequently in real estate sector as well. There are agents that turn out to be flops and there are agents who can take a bad situation, like the economy, and make it work for them. Here are some tricks and advice that can help you understand how to be a successful real estate agent in tough times.
Always accent the positives
Okay, you know all too well what it means to get a junker for a house to sell. You know - the house that looks like it has been uninhabited for 100 years and is amazingly still standing. We all get those kinds of properties and we spruce them up as best as we can. We do some mowing, add a little paint, a few well-placed pieces of disposable furniture and we have what we refer to as a quaint fixer-upper.
Put yourself in the buyer's shoes
Think about the benefits of the property from a buyer's perspective. If there is a large amount of acreage, this is something to point out. Provide some ideas for sprucing things up. You can also provide them with referrals for contractors and decorators that can help them spend less time and money.
If you do find yourself to be completely in your head or for some other reason need to re-start the scene, just do it. Don't ask, just confidently say "Let's start over again" or something to that effect and then tell them you need a minute (if you do) or get focused and wait for the camera to start rolling again. As I frequently tell my students, they want you to do well so if you're not quite there, get into the zone and do it again. It's a win/win.In conclusion, I'll just say that acting is a difficult endeavor and requires the utmost belief and confidence in oneself. Entering a casting room with anything other than complete chutzpah in what you are doing is a casting death-sentence. Treat the people in the room like they are your friends (they are) and relax and have fun with the experience. Then you will do your best and quite possibly book that job!
