Thumbs up Summerslam Main Events: 1996

Wow I forgot I had left this project off in such a bad area. Never again will I leave you guys with a Diesel-Mabel match to finish things out. Unfortunately the summers just aren't a good time to get my rant on with all the vacations and family stuff planned. However, with the heir to the throne out for the weekend and Mr. Princess on a golf retreat with his dad, there's peace in the house and a chance for me to watch a few old Summerslam matches while doing laundry. Ugh I really need a maid. Enjoy! The Princess Rant on Summerslam Main Events: Summerslam 1996 From the Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio on 网赚之家 August 18, 1996 Hosted by Vince McMahon, Jim Ross and Mr. Perfect WWF World Championship: Shawn Michaels vs. Vader This was set up with the simple route: At the In Your House main event the month prior Vader pinned Michaels in the six-man match. Word of mouth says Vader was supposed to go over here too but it was nixed by someone. Shawn and Vader had a bit of an interesting relationship to say the least. It was really kind of…well I will let Jim Cornette explain it to you. A little posturing to start and then Vader goes right to the roughhousing and drops Michaels with a short-armed clothesline. Vader goes with the big boot but Michaels blocks it and does a leg sweep to get Vader down. Michaels with a low dropkick and he goes right into a kick-punch combo. Vader tries to stop the momentum but tossing Michaels to the floor but Michaels reverses it and then hits a baseball slide on Vader. Michaels with the hands-free top rope plancha! That was a cool visual. Vader wants to conference with Cornette but HBK breaks that up and sends Vader in the ring. Top rope axe and a hurricanrana from Vader. He goes for another high risk move and gives Vader an inverted head scissors over the top and scales the ropes. Michaels goes for another plancha but Vader catches him this time and powerbombs him on the blue mat. Vader carries 网络兼职 Michaels back into the ring and drops him over the ropes. Vader corners Michaels and roughs him up a bit. Sweet suplex by Vader as Perfect taunts Michaels a little. Vader goes back to the rough stuff and slows the pace of the match down considerably. Hard Irish whip sends Michaels head over heels and a second one sends him over the top rope. Vader pounds on Michaels some more as he re-enters the ring and goes for a back suplex but Michaels fights it off. A second attempt and Michaels flips over and tries to fight back but Vader pokes him in the eye. Vader misses an avalanche but drops Michaels with a big clothesline. Vader tries to dump Michaels over the top, Michaels holds on and tries to scissors Vader over so Vader casually stands up and launches Michaels off of him. Vader with a nerve hold of sorts here but Michaels tries the comeback and fights his way out of the hold. Michaels with a high knee and a clothesline but Vader doesn't fall. Michaels tries to slide under Vader's legs but he catches him and goes for a splash that finds knees. Michaels finally drops Vader with a clothesline. He goes to the top and hits a flying stomp. That looked awkward and something happened because Michaels stomps him twice more and bitches him out. Irish whip is reversed and Michaels ducks a clothesline, 网络兼职联盟 he hits a cross body that sends both guys over the top. Vader takes control on the floor as he slams Michaels into the railing and gets the countout victory. Nice match at times, I'd say ***1/4. But wait. Jim Cornette doesn't want things to end this way and says if Shawn Michaels has any guys he'll get back to the ring. Michaels needs help to get to the back but Cornette goads him into returning to the ring. Vader nails Michaels on the floor again and keeps pounding away while Jose Lothario objects. Cornette adds a racket shot while the ref is occupied with Lothario. Back in the ring and Vader hits an avalanche and a beautiful belly to belly suplex for a near fall. Hell that's the first pin attempt I can remember in this match. Vader goes for a powerbomb but Michaels fights it off and hits a flying forearm. Back to the top and Michaels hits the big elbow. Time to warm up the band but Cornette grabs his leg. Michaels goes after the manager and Cornette tries to sneak the racket to Vader. Michaels grabs the racket first and goes apeshit on Vader and Cornette, causing a disqualification. The re-start actually bumps this match to ***1/2 even with the BS finish. But wait, Cornette wants to win the title and goads Michaels into yet another re-start. So Michaels gets the jump this time. Michaels goes for a sunset flip that Vader Famous Four Eyes Competition From Huffington Post – Spectacles ... foils but he misses the splash. Michaels with a flying forearm and another big elbow! Michaels warms the band and nails sweet chin music for TWO!!!! Big crowd pop for that and you're thinking there's no way Vader leaves Cleveland without the belt. Michaels is accidentally sent into the official, knocking him to the floor. Vader with a powerbomb on Michaels and a second ref comes in for a two count. Vader gets over the shock and goes for the Vader bomb…but reconsiders and goes to the top. He misses the moonsault but Michaels hits his moonsault and gets the three count! (Michaels def. Vader, pinfall, ***1/2, really solid match, not as good as what either man is capable of and the restarts took away a little for me.)
