Ravens Boost Offensive Line with McKinnie Addition Posted: August 25, 2011 | Author: Führer Dingus | Filed under: Ravens, Legal Hiccups, NFL | Tags: Baltimore, Bryant McKinnie, free agency, offensive line, Ravens, tackle | Leave a comment » What if I were to tell you that there is a Pro Bowl lineman who is overweight and has some legal hiccups on his record available in free agency. Is that something you might be interested in? Well apparently that is something that the Ravens would be interested in by way of their most recent free agent signing in former Vikings tackle Bryant McKinnie. Baltimore signed McKinnie on Tuesday to aÂ*a two-year contract with a maximum value of 7.5 million (including 1 million signing bonus), after being cut by his former team the Minnesota cigarettes free shipping Vikings. McKinnie was an eight-year starter for the Vikings, which now means that the Ravens have a total of three players that have paved the way for regular season rushing title blocking for Ray Rice in C Matt Birk (Adiran Peterson, 2008), FB Vonta Leach (Arian Foster, 2010) and T Bryant McKinnie (Adrian Peterson, 2008). However, McKinnie is no cherub, the man has multiple off-the-field issues including a brawl at a gas station in 2005 with a fellow teammate, the notorious Vikings cruise and a battery charge stemming from an incident inside a Miami nightclub. McKinnie was also kicked off the 2009 Pro Bowl team for missing practices and a team photo. Hopefully McKinnie can say his please and thank you’s while staying out of trouble with his reconnection with offensive line Dad Matt Birk. The McKinnie signing also cheap cigarettes outlet shakes the order of the offensive line. According to Pro Football Talk, McKinnie was told that he was to play left tackle, bumping Michael Oher to right tackle. If true, should make the offensive line look something like this. LT – Bryant McKinnie LG – Ben Grubbs C – Ben Grubbs RG – Marshal Yanda RT – Michael Oher I like the change. Oher seemed more comfortable at right tackle, rather than left. Who cares if Hollywood dumped an inordinate amount of money into Oher’s story at left tackle/making Sandra Bullock look hot again. Oher plays better at right tackle at the professional level. Fact. Unfortunately, fans probably won’t see McKinnie in a different shade of purple tonight against the Redskins given the deal was made two days ago. However, the McKinnie signing is analogous to the move the Ravens made for the 2009 season in signing Willie Anderson from cheap cigarettes the Bengals, a veteran lineman to compensate for lack of experience at the tackle position. The Ravens made the AFC Championship game in 2009, who knows, maybe McKinnie works out like Anderson.
