Adidas to take over Nike in London Olympics 2012 Adidas the sportswear makers from Germany are coming up with their mastermind plan to make an entry into the London 2012 Olympics and over take their long term competitor Nike.Â* They intend to snatch away the leadership position in the market as well as garner a healthy amount of 100 million pounds (165 million) in the UK sales. Up till now Nike, is the biggest sportswear group in the world with a share of around 18 percent in the UK market of <a href="http://www.thenikes.com"><strong>NIKE onsale</strong></a> sports attires.Â* It has to its credit an estimate of roughly 4.3 billion pounds while Adidas being only second to it with about 15 percent. Adidas will be the Olympics official holder of the license of clothing with a plan to vend clothing with Olympic themes to its own stores and other retailers such as Tesco and Asda. To leave no stone unturned it has hired Stella McCartney, the designer daughter of Sir Paul as their creative director of Team GB. Stella will provide the signature tracksuits. The retailer Next will arrange for the team their opening ceremony wear. Adidas assures that their clothing is going to be completely environment friendly. Adi Dassler, founder of Adidas also informed that the products for the 2012 London Olympics products have been already doing good sales in other tourist markets. The company now intends to enter France and Germany in the European markets of and is working to secure the merchandising rights for the same. The chief executive of Adidas, Herbert Hainer expressed the estimation of securing around £ 100m in the sales of the clothing in the 2012 Olympics. Incidentally the license fee and other marketing that the company has to incur for their venture in other markets is also the same. The sole motive of Adidas in keeping an eye on the Olympics is to knock off its rival Nike in UK. Now since Nike holds a strong <a href="http://www.thenikes.com"><strong>nike shox</strong></a> position as a brand in London, Adidas first needs to create a niche for itself in London Olympics to get to the top place. With an investment of £100m for their venture in the 2012 London Olympics, Adidas is striving hard to shoot itself to the top. The amount of their investment is divided between their manufacturing costs, official fee, retailers cost, volunteers fee and the marketing of their company and their variety. As of now, Adidas adores a hike in their demands from soccer shoes to basketballs and has also increased their sales target this month notwithstanding the loss they incurred in their business from the markets in Japan following the gruesome tsunami that hit the country in March this year. Although the company was running on estimation of a fall of fifteen to twenty percent in the sales in May ensuing the earthquake the results were not that bad as presumed. However, with all this on the floor, Nike surely does not plan to step aside and lose their dominance. To combat Adidas, it has already set up a huge store in Westfield just besides the site for the 2012 Olympics.Â* This seems to be a key place as seventy percent of the ticket holders will rather have to pass through this store before they hit the Olympic grounds.
