2011 Preseason Week-3 Patriots vs. Lions – Fantasy Football Notes ...
Â*– Matthew Stafford (12-14 for 200 yards and 2 TD/0 INT) is a Fantasy Football “sleeper” for many, and we are very high on him as well — currently, our #6 overall QB for Fantasy Football 2011…and it would not be a shock to us if he winds up top-3 QB for Fantasy Football scoring this season. If you take Stafford’s 3 preseason games and combined them — he has roughly a full game of stats with a tally of 25 of 39 (64.1%) with 395 yards and 3 TD/0 INT. Take the 3-game preseason combo, and his 2 (nearly) full games played in 2010 (Week 8 & 9), and Stafford has a rollup of 9 TDs and 1 INT in that stretch. Â*– Aaron Hernandez (5 rec for 46 yards, 8 targets) has performed at a better pace in 3 preseason games in 2011,Â*than he did inÂ*his 2010 season output. 2010 (no Week-17) = 3.2 receptions, 40.2 yards, 0.4 TDs per game 2011Â* (Preseason) = 4.7 receptions, 52.0 yards per game, 0.3 TDs per game It’s a big difference, especially when you consider that Hernandez is only playing UGG Boots Clearance about a half of a game in the preseason. We see a trend moving that the new Wes Welker (3 rec for 71 yards, 1 TD on 5 targets) for the Patriots is Hernandez. Not that Hernandez will have 12 catches a game (like old-school Welker)…it just means Welker will be a more “normal’ WR with 5-7 catches a game, and Hernandez could be a 4-7 catch a game option as well. In a PPR league, Hernandez might be a star TE this year. Â*– Danny Woodhead (4 carries for 28 yards, 3 rec for 21 yards on 5 targets) has been UGG Boots 5825 Classic Short the lead/starting RB in every game for the Pats this preseason, and has looked sensational. Woodhead is good, but the Patriots line is great…combine the two, and you are looking at a rushing/receiving weapon that might get 100-150 yards per game this season. Woodhead has 7.8 yards per carry in this preseason. Â*– Pats rookie RBs Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley did not play in this game, both out with nagging injuries. Both are players not to bother with initially for Fantasy Football Drafts. We are high on Vereen for the future, which may be a 2012 play….2011 is slipping away. Â*– Jerome Harrison (8 carries for 24 yards, 3 rec for 51 yards on 3 targets) did not start the first series, but was the main RB after that. We are very much promoting a possible Harrison as starter/top Lions RB this season…actually we are promoting a cheap look at the possibility.
