Hello GameBattles Community,
Sony’s recent security issues serve as a good reminder to all of us that safeguarding our online information is extremely important. We have provided below a few tips that will help you better secure your online identify. This topic continues to gain more and more attention and should not be taken lightly.
Passwords
Should never contain your name, username,
nba jerseys, birthday, or other obvious information. An example of obvious information may be using the word "Yankees" in your password if you are a huge Yankees fan. (If you have pictures of the Yankees all over your GB profile, someone’s first guess might be that your password contains the word "Yankees".) Should be complicated and not less than 8 characters long. For help generating complicated passwords, there are a number of free sites on the internet for password generators. An example of a free site is this one. An example of a difficult password is: 3f6S5@f#jYTb Should be unique for each account/site that you own. DO NOT use the same password for everything. Your Gmail account should not use the same password as your Facebook or GameBattles account. A good program to consider using to store unique passwords is LastPass.
Security Questions
Be sure to choose the most challenging questions to answer. DO NOT select security questions which can easily be answered by a little searching on Google. This defeats the purpose of security questions. Examples are: Which city were you born in? What High School did you attend? Be sure to change your security questions from time to time if the option exists.
If you do not follow the suggestions above, you are making yourself vulnerable to losing an account. In relation to GameBattles, your username is completely your responsibility to safeguard with a difficult, unique password, which you should never give to anyone. Also, you should NEVER click on suspicious links as they may be phishing sites.
